It's no secret that I pretty much despise unscented products. I find them joyless and boring. I also firmly believe that most of us wouldn't be here if it weren't for scents. We might be wet shavers, but you probably wouldn't be participating on a community about shaving. Scents are what give us the thrill.

Essentially this contest is to convince some of you to spend a month torturing yourself with mundane shaves. This is the 3rd year of this contest, and quite honestly I wish that I had never dreamt it into existence. Reading your shaves crushes my soul.

MOST of the rules remain the same as last year, but there are some changes so pay attention!

1. To enter simply use your unscented products on day 1 and include "#unscentedchallenge" somewhere in your post. With the help of u/phteven_j 's bot army, I'll then track the rest of your shaves for the month.

2. You must shave for all 31 days with the same unscented lather.

3. Every single part of your shave must be unscented (pre-shaves, soaps, and aftershave/balm). Additionally, you CANNOT use a frag. Why? because I'm a jerk and I don't want any of you to actually do this!

4. SOTD posts must be made my 11:59 Pacific time on the day of the shave (unless you let me know beforehand that you will be posting them at a later date).

5. If you're unsure if a soap is truly unscented, take a look at the ingredients if it mentions fragrance, fragrance oil, essential oil, parfum, etc. then it does not qualify (sorry Mitchell's Wool Fat users).

So I'm a crazy person and think I want to try this, what can I win.

Up to 6 people who complete the challenge will win a prize. I will use a random number generator to decide who gets first choice of their prize. 1 person will win a custom shave brush handle, 2 people will win a soap/aftershave set of your choice, and 3 people will win a bar soap or shampoo bar of your choice.

International people are welcome to enter to compete for just the brush handle or a shave soap. I'll cover the cost of shipping up to $20.

I've honestly been dreading this contest and seriously considered cancelling it, but apparently, some of you people actually enjoy torturing yourselves. I need to reframe this contest in my mind, so here is what I'm going to do. Following the examples of u/mammothben, u/declarationgrooming, u/urfrendlipiro, and so so many more, let's put a positive twist on this. For every person that completes the challenge, I will donate $15 to the JED Foundation.
