Taking into account some of the more, ahem, vocal feedback from last year regarding our Leviathan label, we’ve decided to do things a little differently this time around. So I’m here to announce the very first (and, hopefully, only) Leviathan Label Contest! We’re going to give YOU the chance to design the label that YOU want to see.

The Rules:

• No sharks, squid, octopodes, whales, or deep sea fish, please. I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but all of these things creep me out, and I would much prefer not to have to work on a label that I find upsetting. Eldritch symbols, the ouroboros, or other such things are perfectly okay.
• All submissions must be in vectorized/Adobe Illustrator format and must be in CMYK color rendering.
• Using stock art is allowed, but please keep track of where it comes from so that I can go secure the proper licensing later. If you utilize a separate font beyond what I provide here, I would ask that it either be a free font or be a Creative Cloud font so that I don’t have to go for licensing, which can get mightily expensive.
• Unless you have some really inventive concept (at which point, I’m all ears!), you just need to design a soap cap; I will take care of the design work for the rest of the labeling, which is primarily the side labels, the EdT box and labeling, and the aftershave balm cap label. However, I do ask that, if you use a background or texture of some kind as a clipping mask, the clipping mask be readily releasable so that I can repurpose it for the other labels, and that any other artwork used be either high resolution or vectorized.
• The design must fall within a 3.75” diameter circle with a 3.88” bleed.

The Setup:

Submissions will be accepted for two weeks, so I will not accept anything after August 9th. Please send the completed file to [email protected] with “Leviathan Submission, [your reddit name], [your real name]” as the subject. If the file size is too large to email, send me a Dropbox link or something with that subject line. We will take our five favorite submissions and put them to a vote for the sub, at which point you will all have three days to make your selection. The winning design will become the new label!

The Prize:

The winner will receive a full set of Leviathan shaving soap, aftershave balm, EdT, and bath soap, plus a $250 gift card to our store. We will also make a $250 donation in your name to a charity of your choice.

This is the branding packet, which contains our logo and relevant fonts. Please do not make any alterations to our logo other than size or color, and please note that, generally, Stratum Bold is used for title fields, while Aria G1 is used for paragraphs. I know that this violates the generally accepted practices of design, but it’s how it has been done since we rebranded, and I don’t particularly wish to deviate from it for the time being.
