STIRLING SOAP CO. - MOUNTAIN MAN BODY BUTTER

What is the difference between Stirling's body butter and hand lotion? I've seen this question pop up a handful of times recently so I thought I'd address it with an actual review, since I love both of these products.

Hand Lotion: I am on my third bottle. I went through Executive Man because of course I did. I currently have a bottle of Island Man and Vanilla Sandalwood as well. I'm not going to go into the scents; that's not really why I'm here. This hand lotion does it's job. I find that I do not need to apply more than once a day unless I wash my hands. I get dry skin pretty easy and water is the worst culprit. So as long as my hands are dry, I don't need to put it on more than once.

Before wetshaving, in the Before Time, I typically stuck to Lubriderm or cheaper stuff like Live Clean lotions. Stirling's product goes on thicker than those lotions, but it isn't greasy. I keep a mini spray bottle in my bathroom so I will put a dollop in my palm, give it two small quirts, and rub it in. This is the perfect consistency for me. I didn't bother to look into the ingredients or anything but I think those other lotions contain more water than Stirling's. I don't know man.

Body Butter: This is really what I wanted to talk about, since I just started using it. I've had this tub for about two weeks now and it is fucking fantastic. I mentioned that I get dry skin easy. But it's not just my hands; I get it bad on my hips/wasitline and my shins. For whatever goddamn reasons. Like, I have scratched and itched my shins so bad that they have bled. For the past couple years, I've been using good old Bag Balm. You know the stuff? Big arse green tin? It works really well. But my god is it unpleasant to apply. It's a vaseline-based salve and is super thick and greasy. It goes on like peanut butter and the smell isn't great either. Your shirt and socks stick to your body. It feels gross on your skin. It fucking works like a charm but you don't like it.

I decided to try Stirling's Body Butter, (also at the suggestion of my GF, who I have turned onto Stirling stuff,) and holy shit. This is SO MUCH BETTER THAN GODDAMN BAG BALM. Truth be told, I like it even better than the hand lotion. It's thick and wet, almost, and creamy and goes on smooth and Mountain Man is the shit, so it smells amazing. I don't need it more than once and this morning, after getting home from work, it struck me that I hadn't had to have a marathon torture session on my legs since I started using it. And that's what inspired this review.

So. I totally recommend the hand lotion but if you get the dry skin as bad as I do, across large portions of your body, I would absolutely recommend that you give Rod's Body Butter a try. That sounds weird. You know what I mean.

(I was not compensated or asked for this review and I bought it with my own hard-earned monies. He kicked my ass in Fantasy Baseball, I don't owe /u/stirlingsoap anything.)
