Like a few other scent categories, the floral family is pretty broad. I spent 10 days using a variety I own to explore some of these different scent profiles though my SOTD. I hope you enjoy!

Starting off with a new theme now that it’s the first of May. Day 1 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 features the cousin/brother/sister of Catalan’s Prairie, with Declaration Grooming’s eponymously named Mayflower. Magnolia up front and I pick up some tobacco on the back end as the main notes of the accord. Scott, of DG, described this as a masculine floral, which I’d agree with. Additionally, I do really enjoy the liniment that DG used to offer - it’s a shame it has gone away. Have a great shave today!

Day 2 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 is a little different in that I decided to use three separate rose-type scents together. First up is the limited edition Savonnerie Martin de Candre’s Rose, which is a classy floral that wraps you in its aroma during the shave. Just an intoxicating and pleasant rose-forward shaving experience. I complimented the MdC with Chypre Rose Concerto AS from Wholly Kaw, which is a very close scent to my nose, but a little more complex. I topped the shave off with Frederic Malle’s La Perfum de Theresea, which offers a slightly different profile by including leather, spice, and aquatic notes to the dominant rose fixture in the accord. Day 3 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 features the very popular fan favorite, Rose Santal from Chatillon Lux and Declaration Grooming. A perfectly blended accord of Rose, Sandalwood, and spices, the soap is a joy to work with since it’s made with DG’s base. Because of the prominence of Rose, it seemed fair to include it in the floral category, but it could easily fall under a woodsy category, as well. The aftershave lasts most of the day, but the EdT is not outdone and both projects and lingers even more. An excellent selection for any fan of either Rose or Sandalwood. Have a great shave today!

Day 4 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 presents us with an offering of Fair Isle Harbor from Cooper & French. A sweet mixture of tobacco flower and caramel first hits you after opening the tin and continues into the lathering, which unveils the rest of the profile of mandarin, honey and rose on the backend. I’ll continue to state C&F is too underrated as the lather is excellent and most of the scents in their arsenal are really exceptional to my nose. The balm is also very impressive. Absorbs fast and the scent lingers longer than other balms I’ve tried. Have a great shave today!

Day 5 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 is a little different than the other florals that have come before. A Midnight Dreary from Catie’s Bubbles presents a “dark and mysterious blend,” or so it says on the label. It’s inspired by or loosely based off Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, but having smelled both, A Midnight Dreary is superior. Orchid, Lotus, Jasmine notes are mixed with a variety of others, including black current, spices, and dark chocolate. It’s really an extraordinary mixture that’s a favorite of mine. Paired with the matching toner to extend the experience. Have a great shave today!

Day 6 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 features the powerhouse that is Barrister and Mann’s discontinued Rhapsody. This was one of the first artisanal soaps I picked up and I recall being pretty blown away by the scent profile at the time. And nothing has changed! An impressive mixture of floral and citrus notes (highlighted by three different blossom scents), Rhapsody is a brisk and sharp wake up for the senses. Paired with its matching aftershave, it’s a real winner that will hopefully receive another day in the sun (plus an EdT!). Have a great shave today!

Day 7 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 features a high-end, special edition collaboration from Chiseled Face and Zoologist in Nightingale. Described as a “pink floral chypre,” some scent highlights include Plum Blossom, Rose, Violet, and Saffron. These mix with numerous other scents, that upon initial sniff give off a laundry detergent-type smell, which is disconcerting. Luckily, upon lathering, the profile opens up more and really blossoms (🤦‍♂️). Matched it with the mentholated and unscented Integrity balm from Soap Commander, as well as Slow Explosions EdP from Imaginary Authors to really let the Saffron and Rose shine. Day 8 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 comes from the mind of Chatillon Lux. The scent for Pure Lavender originated as a post-shave product, which was recently produced in soap form by Declaration Grooming. Created with floral lavender lovers in mind, the scent combines four different strains of lavender. While not intended to be a complex profile, it accomplishes its singular mission beautifully. The DG base is top-notch and makes the pairing with the matching aftershave a luxurious treat. Have a great shave today!

Day 9 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 features everyone’s favorite (including moms!), the recently crowned tournament of soaps winner, Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli. Today I’m using the version from Chatillon Lux and Wholly Kaw in Donkey Milk, which provides an awesome lather and post-shave feel. Using the whole set here with the CL aftershave & EdT. The rose dominates, but the complexity of the scent combination is what really defines YRP. Have a great shave today!

Day 10 of 💐10 Days of Florals🌺 brings our tour to an end. I highlighted reaching the finish line with one of my favorite lavenders, Flowers in the Dark by Dr. Jon. A darker profile with lavender, ozone and cedar (or coffin wood, as described by its maker). Definitely one of my top 2-3 lavenders. Have a great shave today!
