I don't really know where to begin with this stuff. I guess I'll start at the Yuzu. I like citrus scents but they aren't my favorite. This one I really enjoy though. I think a lot of citrus scented frags can smell a little like a cleaning product but not this one. The Yuzu is sharp and strong. After that calms down a bit I'm totally lost. There is a clusterfuck of scent notes in this stuff and I can hardly detect any of them. A little aquatic, a little woodsy, and a decent amount of floral. Each time I think I have something nailed down I smell something different. I've used this fragrance quite a bit and it's the same thing every time. Part of the reason I enjoy wearing it. Find it very hard to be bored with it.
For such a citrus heavy frag it lasts a pretty long time on me. Easily get 6-8 hours and even longer if I spray my clothes. Cost is great. Easy to find at any of the discount fragrance sites or your local discount clothing stores like Ross or Marshalls. Should be able to find a 4.2oz bottle for around $40.
While this is a very popular cologne it seems like it has always been overshadowed by a different one. It came out in 1994, same year that Polo Sport was released. I don't remember smelling this when I was in school but I sure as hell remember Polo Sport. Also CK One was released the same year then followed by Tommy in 1995 and Curve in 1996. Those were the most popular scents while I was in high school. Now they seem to be rarely used while the Issey Miyake keeps going.
I was thinking for these reviews we should try and put a little part where we list some similar scents or something like that. Kind of a "If you like that then you will like this" section.
If you are a fan of this some other recommendations would be
- Dior Eau Sauvage EdT
- Ferrari Bright Neroli
- Barrister and Mann Seville
- Chatillon Lux YRP
- Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
- Creed Erolfa
