Often times we have been asked about the Donkey Milk in our formulations and what made us choose Donkey Milk. It’s time we answered those questions with some context and pictures of our farms in NJ and NY.

Two things may be a revelation to some of you. First, you can milk a donkey (and yes, it’s also sometimes called ass milk). Second, people love themselves some ass milk. Who does not love the ass?

Donkeys can be moody too in that they can refuse to give the milk if they choose to. And since there are no milking machines that fit donkey’s udders, all the milking has to be done by hand. WK team milk the donkeys by hand three times a day. Before staff members earn the right to milk our prized steeds, they complete 35 hours of nipple stimulation training and spend a minimum of 72 hours building rapport with the asses themselves. Expertise on human nipples do not cut it. Our training program is so effective, we may soon offer it as a credit-eligible course through Cornell University’s cooperative extension (NY farm only).

The donkeys are free range pasture raised, fed organic grass and drink organic water. These ladies are given at least 5000 square feet each and consume some feed and lots of rich grass. They tend to be let out of the barns early in the morning and called back in before nightfall.

Our pasture-raised donkeys produce milk that contains twice as much omega-3 and omega-6 fats, three times more vitamin D, and four times more vitamin E than milk from donkeys raised on traditional feed.
