We haven't done one of these in a while, so thought I'd post one up.
So, what is everyone listening to?
I've been going back to alternative rock after neglecting the genre for a few months due to listening mostly to electronic music. Have never been too big a fan of Sufjan Stevens but I did enjoy his last album, Carrie and Lowel. I just discovered he did a live version of the album this past year, which completely transforms the songs. If I had to characterize the studio album in terms of colors, it would be dark blues, black, and dark grays. Very monochromatic, limited range, very depressing.
This live version is completely different. The range of style and instrumentation on these songs is impressive and he completely fleshes them out to show their beauty. The recording is available on Spotify and he even videotaped his performance and put it up on YouTube if you'd rather watch. It's pretty beautifully shot.
