With the 2023 Lather Games almost a month behind us, it's time to announce one last prize!
As you all know, Shaving Portals are the new hotness. u/djundjila selflessly stepped up to the plate this year and started a huge project in writing a new portal. The portal is open-source, multi-use, and pretty dang slick. In fact, it's being used right now to track some Austere August challenges.
Djundjila spent months on it. Evenings, weekends, even taking some vacation days to hammer out some bugs. It was thankless work, and the result is fantastic. Judges and players alike surely noticed how smoothly it worked for the entire month of July (and now August).
All 2023 Lather Games participants should have recieved a message begging for a contribution to go towards a gift for u/djundjila. We were slightly worried that spam filters would take over and prevent a big turnout, but apparently that wasn't the case!
A GoFundMe was started to collect funds. $498 was raised from 33 people, for an average contribution of $15.09 per person. Huge! After fees, that left us with $473.50 to blow.
What do you get someone who has EVERYTHING?! Well, lucky for us, u/djundjila posted a list of the contents of his shave den during the lather games. That allowed us to pick something:
- He doesn't already own
- Is expensive
- Looks good
- Hopefully shaves nicely
A Boker Abalone straight razor!
But wait, there's more!
That still leaves us with roughly $150 in cash! So obviously, he's also getting a Maggard Gift Card.
Thank you to everyone who helped raise all this money, and thank you to u/djundjila for your countless hours of work towards the Lather Games.
Until next year,
The 2023 Lather Games Committee™
