Interest in shave bowls?
Post Body

I totally understand that many people (myself included) prefer face lathering, however I do on occasion break out the bowl and have a run. If you absolutely hate bowl lathering, move along, nothing to see here.

Whilst perusing a local "Barktoberfest" event (kind of a craft fair/dog adoption event/etc type thing) I found a nice relatively local lady who does some pretty fantastic pottery. While looking I noticed a small low sided lipped bowl that I thought would work really well for a lather bowl. We got to talking and she said that she would love to make them to any specification that I would like. Thought I'd reach out for some suggestions and see if there was any market for such a thing. She may also be open to scuttles, not really sure. Only real reason I was considering looking further in to this is because of the cost. She's thinking that she can make them for $15-$20 each which seemed to be at least on-par or cheaper than what's out there right now. My thoughts so far:

  • 5" diameter x 2-3" depth (this is a comfortable size for me to palm)

  • Some sort of grippy/textured finish on the outside

  • Rim of bowl tapers slightly inward

  • Some form of ridges/swirls/etc on the bottom of the bowl

Any suggestions or criticisms would be appreciated as I'm not a bowl connoisseur, I only have the one :-)
