Alright, I got my "Adventurer" razor from Fendrihan today.

First things first, here are some pics: http://imgur.com/a/3oOQJ

And here is a link to buy: http://www.fendrihan.com/collections/double-edge-safety-razors/fendrihan stainless-steel

Just like the title says, this razor is 100% stainless steel from head to handle. The most remarkable thing about this razor is that is only costs $40. That price is $30 cheaper than the Weber razor sold for when it was still in production, which makes the Adventurer (and it's kin) the cheapest all-stainless razors ever to see mass production.

First Impressions

The razor came packed in a nice little box with the Fendrihan logo sticker, with a little red elastic holding it closed. Inside the box is some padding (not cut to form) and each part of the razor was packed in a thin foam sheath wrapped in individual plastic baggies. The box isn't very high quality, but still it is a nice touch in a $40 razor.

The razor itself feels solid. The head threads onto the handle smoothly and doesn't feel at all flimsy. The cap is polished on the outside, but not on the inside where there is a distinct texture that indicates the razor head is sintered rather than machined. The baseplate is polished as well, but as you can see from the photos it isn't as nicely polished as the top cap, some residual manufacturing marks are still visible. The handle is probably machined as it's finish is pretty good with sharp edges around the threading and nicely cut knurling that provides a lot of grip.

Shave

I only have one shave down with this razor so far, but I think I may have a winner. My personal preference is for aggressive razors with significant blade gap and exposure, but with a head geometry that makes the razor feel smoother rather than harsh. For the last 6 months or so I have been shaving almost exclusively with a Wolfman WR1-OC with WRH1 handle and it has been pretty much perfect for me.

If you prefer mild razors, this probably isn't the razor for you.

The open-comb side of the razor feels a bit like a Fatip razor. You can definitely feel the edge of the razor against your skin as you are shaving and you get a lot of audible feedback. However as long as you use a light hand and pay attention to your angles this razor feels pretty smooth. Not as smooth as my Wolfman, but still surprising good.

The closed-comb side of the razor definitely feels a lot smoother than the open comb-side. You still get a lot of audible feedback, but you can't feel the edge of the blade as much. If you get one of these razors you will still want to use light pressure but this side will definitely be a lot more forgiving of lapses in technique.

Results

Both sides remove hair like no one's business. They take whiskers right off, with no bullshit.

In 3 passes I was BBS and the shave was almost over before it began. The Fendrihan razor even took care of my "trouble spots" in the hollow of my jaw below the ears in three quick passes. Usually I have to do a cleanup pass with my Wolfman in this are to get BBS. Even though the razor has a decent sized gap and positive blade exposure I came away with no irritation.

I am going to need to give it a few more shaves before I really make up my mind about this razor. It has the possibility of being harsh, especially if the person using it is used to more mild razors. However for $40 I think this might be one of my new favorite razors.

tl:dr:

  • Solid build quality
  • Aggressive blade gap & exposure
  • Removes hair with no bullshit.
  • Could be harsh if you don't use a light touch.
  • Inexpensive
  • How many bullets are too many for a tl;dr?
