Okay so after having a difficult time locating the points and condenser last night I realized the old owner mustāve installed a Pertronix Ignotor and relaxed the points and condensor! So now everything makes SO MICH MORE SENSE! Will I still need to set timing if I no longer have points?
Okayyyy. So when you say āturn the distributorā what do you mean? She doesnāt turn she is in there so it doesnāt wiggle? Am I supposed to loosen it first then wiggle or turn it while trying to start?
UPDATE! So I learned my points and condensor were replaced with pertronix ignitor! Awesome! But now I have put it back in and it turns but wonāt fire. Do I still need to adjust ignition timing or move to TDC before starting? Thanks for all your help humans.
Alright. Tomorrow I will do that when I have light outside and it starts raining. I have the distributor inside. Can I disassemble this now or do I wait?
See I have these instructions in my manual but I donāt know what half of it means š oh noooooo
Thanks for your response! What Iām getting hung up on is that Iām finding directions to turn the engine over to feel compression and viewing the timing scaleā¦ but I didnāt do that and already have the distributor out? Is this bad?
I keep reading never to turn the key while the distributor is out, so do I put it back in first and connect the battery THEN check compression and timing scale? Orā¦ whatās the move here?
Thanks for taking the time.
Okay! Iām worried about fucking up the timing and a bit intimidated. I have the battery disconnected but charging on a trickle charger atm (think I may need a new one) so Iām wary about where to begin.

Thatās why I asked if Iām supposed to loosen it first. Yes I know what you mean. Roger.
