WD RED m.2 (SN700) require a heatsink?
Post Body

Hi, we use Western Digital RED drives in all QNAP NAS hardware (both HHD and SSD), a question was raised earlier about heatsinks and the WD RED M.2 SN700 generation (WD RED SN700) QNAP manual says to install a heatsink on the M.2 drives (all, not just a specidic brand), WD do not sell them with hearsinks, so are they required? On the Model of NAS we are looking at, there's a huge 70mm fan right behind the M.2 slots blowing air on them, so its not in a stagnant area, however i would think if they require heatsinks WD would have made some parts with them on (such as the M.2 Blacks, have heatsink options).

Any input here would be great.
