Office of the President of the United States of Venezuela
July 10th
Following the cession of the ABC Islands as well as their subsequent immediate changes, President Betancourt has gone as far to continue these legislative freedoms for the rest of the citizens, guaranteeing each and every single citizen the following,
Freedom to Vote
Freedom to Religious Freedoms
Freedom to Free Speech
Freedom to Their Own Property
Freedom from Political Fear
A Social Safety Net
The first four are promised in the constitution, but amendments have gone as far to guarantee and ensure that citizens are protected from government repression as well.
Accion Democratica Rallies
Following these changes, the Social Democratic Party and its popularity within homeland Venezuela has accelerated exponentially. The people are being given what they want. They asked for protection, they received it. They asked for money, they got it. They asked for homes, they're getting it. They want jobs - President Betancourt is promising it!
With these promises, it seems that Betancourt simply cannot fail. Not only are the people backing his Presidency but as are the domestic Venezuelan companies. Is there nothing that this man cannot ask for? Thousands upon thousands of citizens are in attendance and its projected that by 1939, Accion Democratica will not only see a massive boon, but as will President Betancourt. That's still two years away, however...
Syndicalist Demands and New Parties
The President has gone far, but has he gone far enough? Syndicalists are content, some even ecstatic to see these legislations, promises and guarantees being said in such a chauvinistic and machoistic country as Venezuela, but one thing still remains segregated, at least sexually. The Military. The Syndicalists have started to rally, saying that Betancourt hasn't done enough! "WE CAN SERVE!" Women shout on the streets from their soap-boxes.
To those machos, this comes at great scrutiny. With the President's political promises, however... the Syndicalists have indeed met this to see how true it was.
Movimento de Izquierda Revolucionaria Social Totalista (Totalist Social Revolutionary Left Movement / MIRS-T)
Partido Socialista de Venezuela (Socialist Party of Venezuela / PSV)
Agrupacion Revulocionaria de Izquierda (Left Revolutionary Group / ARI)
Partido Comunista de Venezuela (Communist Party of Venezuela / CPV)
These are four new parties that have formed and have openly stated they intend to run in the 1939 election alongside others within the country. Compared to the Social Democrats, any luck they have seems extremely slim. It comes at a testament that Syndicalism and general leftism has turned political within the country.
