With the upcoming 8th Imperial Conference set to take place in the latter half of May and the first half of June, political change is not only needed across the Commonwealth but the British Government in Exile in general. A relic from the reign of King George V, the exiled government has been maintained without reform and has begun infecting the Canadian government through the British infiltration of the Canadian Senate. While the issue of Senate Reform is to be addressed in a draft bill currently circulating in the House of Commons, there stands little chance of the Bill succeeding in heavily British influenced and staffed Senate. As such, King Edward - upon the advice of his Privy Council and not wishing to cause potential issues with the Canadian government further down the line has appointed Robert Cecil as the next British Prime Minister.
Having made a name for himself as an anti-socialist in British politics before the Revolution, Cecil brings much needed talent to the Empire following the King's dismissal of Chamberlain just last week. While not democratically elected, it seems that the appointment of Cecil shows the King's enthusiasm to not only effectively utilize the upcoming 8th Imperial Conference, but also offer further concessions to his Canadian hosts who are currently campaigning for not only for the Quebec Provisional Elections in August, but the national elections in October.
