Chairman Togliatti took a deep breath as he walked through the halls of the Piazza, though at one time, not too long ago, the damnable Savoia had made these very halls their home before Roma had been taken, now it served as a stark reminder of how far the Italian people had come. How they moved beyond their past to embrace the future, though he chuckled to himself a bit at the thought, he was starting to sound like one of Mussolini's men for a moment there. That thought brought him to the current state of the Gran Consiglio del Socialismo (Grand Council of Socialism), thankfully, for now the Partito Socialista Italiano held a comfortable majority with 150 members, Mussolini was not too far behind, having 72 of his own members following his every word. Rumor had it that he had even formed a "Shadow Cabinet" taking after the British, just in case his own government mis-stepped and he was "Forced" to take over. He shook his head at the absurdity of it all, he had lead the Republic for 10 years now, and so long as he had the support of the people he had no intention of stopping now.
It would seem being lost in his own thoughts had allowed Togliatti to arrive at his destination sooner than expected, and with nary a thought he opened the door, smiling as he realized his partners had already arrived. Palmiro gave his pleasantries to the rest before taking his seat at the table, the first to speak up being the man directly across from him.
"It's nice to see you, Compagno Togliatti, and here I was hoping I'd be able to skip meeting with the other members of the Consiglio if you took much longer" spoke Nicolo Bombacci, with a dry wit and smirk hidden in his bearded face. Though Togliatti knew he could trust Bombacci, he was always cautious around the man, he knew that back in 26 the older man had coveted the Chairman position and was none too happy when the younger Togliatti had swiped it up. He had hoped time had mellowed the mans ambitions, and that he was now happy with his position as Prime Minister of the Republic, though clearly it had done nothing to his tongue.
Before responding, Togliatti allowed himself to meet the eyes of the rest of his cabinet, and allowed his shoulders to sag, it was good to be in such nice company.
"Well Compagno Bombacci, I'd best hurry up then, I'd rather not get in between you and the good members of the Consiglio"
