March 22nd, 1941

José Díaz is giving a speech & press conference in Madrid, talking about something related to agricultural policy, when a heckler in the crowd shouts out "HEY, DIAZ! SHOW US YOUR 'SO CALLED' PISTOL MASTERY! OR WAS THAT ALL JUST RED TALK FOR YOUR RED NEWSPAPER, YOU CHICKEN?"

Díaz goes silent for a second, contemplating his next move.

Do I give in to the heckler?

Normally I'd go with my gut, but, well, stomach cancer...

Hm... Eh, fuck it.

"Fine, alright."

He starts taking off his coat, and goes over to Enrique, whose standing and making conversation with Largo Caballero. "Enrique, give me one of your pistols and set that empty bottle up over there, where everyone can see it. Yeah, over there. Thank you."

Once everyone is clear of the path between him and the bottle, he steps off the stage and goes to the opposite wall, checks the magazine, and stands, facing his wall. He counts to three, then, he turns, aims, and, with one, clean shot, shatters the bottle. He hands the pistol back to Enrique and puts his jacket back on.

"Questions, Comrade?"

There are none. He goes back to giving the conference.
