Shortly after the city of Milan was fully pacified and things had calmed down, a rally was set up in front of the Duomo di Milano, this rally would be heavily advertised both within the city and the outlying area, though the exact content of the rally would remain vague at best. Upon the day of the rally with agents of the SIM watching the crowd to ensure no terrorists or assassins make any moves rather than any politicians or speakers taking the stage, surprisingly it will be a couple, a husband and wife who cautiously, almost embarrassingly approach the microphone. Some in the crowd will surely recognize the couple as locals from Milan, and as the couple haltingly speak the content of this rally will become clear. This couple, along with many other fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters will speak, telling stories of their loved ones, most politically active but all innocent, being taken from them by both the ANI, and the Bonomi government. Whether imprisoned, exiled, or otherwise gotten rid of. One of the final speakers will be a single woman, clearly in her later years, she tells the story of her son, young Amadeo.

"Amadeo, he was always such a bright child," she said, with a light smile on her face "He was always so, curious. Could never let anything be. I still remember how angry his father was when he was late to his shift at the factory because Amadeo dismantled the clock to find out why it went off so early in the morning." She laughed, before staring, not at anyone in the crowd, but above them, to just above the buildings on the other end of the plaza, "We had him attend a Catholic school, and he always got such high marks, we were sure he'd take the cloth. He'd rush home and tell me the newest piece of scripture they'd memorized, or the martyr they had learned about that day. I think... I think that is what lead him, in his teenage years to begin working with the downtrodden of our city. He was steadfast, no matter how much I said he needed to study more, he'd just say 'Mama, they need me.' and be off like that. Eventually...the guards must have heard about the soup kitchen he was at, and thought it was a recruiting center for Syndicalists. I didn't know it at the time, all I knew was that he left one evening to go there, and he didn't return that night, or the morning." She began to sniffle here, taking a shuddering breath while she continued "Eventually, I found one of his friends, Antonio, the poor child was half bruises and winced with every step he took. He didn't recognize me at first, but when I told him who I was and asked what happened, he couldn't meet my eye. He then told me what happened that fateful night. Guards had burst in, and began to destroy the food and equipment in the kitchen, Antonio wanted to just leave, but when Amadeo saw them standing over one of the people eating there, he sprung forward. Demanding to know what they were doing, and tried to pull them away...Amadeo never came home. The police first said that he was arrested on charges of Sedition, then that he suddenly passed away in their custody." By this point, the woman was openly weeping, her hands shaking. Seemingly done with her part, she shakily stepped away from the podium, when she was suddenly stopped by a man placing his hands on her shoulders.

Benito Mussolini carefully reached down, and took both of her hands in his. With a gentle smile and a reassuring voice thanked her for her words. Taking the podium himself, Mussolini began his own speech;

The stories you have heard today, are unfortunately true. And are what we are striving so hard to end! No longer shall the entrenched elite use the hard working Italians as their personal toys, working us to our bones, slaughtering us when we dare question the status quo! Even now, that the people of Lombardia have been liberated, the people of Veneto suffer under the rule of new bourgeoisie! They suffer under the Austrian puppet! So long as the Bourbon rules in the south, and the Austrian lapdog to the east, these deaths will continue, more proletariat will be slaughtered like the innocent lambs they are. The bourgeoisie will put all of these deaths on us, the Syndicalists, they claim as long as we attempt to reach true equality, the deaths will continue! They will put this blood on our hands! To that I say...very well. I will accept this blood, I will accept these deaths!

Here, he would stop speaking, and turn to the woman who had spoken before him, and lowered himself to his knees, bowing down until his forehead touched the stage. He said, loud enough for the microphones to still pick him up;

Signora, I do not ask for you to forgive me, for there can be no forgiving the loss of your son, the pain that you felt and still to this day feel. Instead, I ask only this of you. Allow me to make his sacrifice not be in vain. Allow me to ensure, that there need not be any more soup kitchens, for every Italian will have a full plate and a roof over their heads. To allow all men to live in peace with their fellow man.

The woman didn't respond verbally, instead, pulling Mussolini to his feet, and throwing her arms around him. After weeping into his shoulder for a few minutes, she calmed down enough, and pulled back, Mussolini offering some comforting words before turning back to the mics

I will accept all of this blood, all of this weight upon my shoulders! If it is for Italia, I shall accept all sins, and even damn myself to the depths of Hell itself! If that is the cost for Italia to be reborn, then I shall accept that with open arms! I will allow the Almighty to bar me from Heaven for all of eternity, to allow the people of Italy to live in peace and harmony. I will ensure that every single drop of innocent Italian blood the bourgeoisie spill will not be in vain. We shall not be divided, we shall remain united together. Even now, as this message is broadcast to all of Italia! To that end, I declare, that in all of Italia, today, September 23rd to be Giornata dei Matiri, the Day of the Martyrs. To honor all those who have given their lives due to the bourgeoisie!

This entire rally shall attempt to be broadcast over all of the Italian peninsula, especially over the Venetian Republic and the Roman Republic.
