Bosnian National Plenum on the Question of the Calendar

For too long has the date keeping system of Bosnia been up in the air. The Croats use the Gregorian calendar, while the Serbs still use the old Julian calendar. The Bosniaks use both and some even use Islamic datekeeping. While all of these systems have their merits, the issue arises that they are all different.

Thus a plenum convened at the request of Minister of Development Mehmed Spaho has discussed which calendar to use moving forward. It was a heated debate, with the advantages and disadvantages of all the different calendar systems discussed at length. Ultimately, however, the decision to emulate the old frogs in Paris was chosen.

The French Revolutionary Calendar was designed as a secular calendar – and when the previous issues left Bosnia’s calendar divided between its religions, we needed to find a calendar for official purposes that favored none of them. Thus, the French Revolutionary Calendar has become the official calendar of Bosnia

None of the other calendars are banned, and in fact the use of all is encouraged in order to keep culture alive – this official calendar only refers to the official communications of state and state functions. It will also be taught in schools (along with all 3 other calendar systems as electives if students wish to learn about them.)
