We've been notified of a suspicious shipment coming into Ulster. Given that we don't have a narcotics crisis or any other burgeoning black market, and the suspicious shipment came from the one country on this Earth that has a policy of selling weapons to literally anyone, we can probably assume what happened here.
This is why our border controls will become stricter, much stricter. Packages coming in from all Northern Irish ports will be carefully examined, as well as packages coming in from Dublin port. All roads leading into Ulster will have a police presence, though they will only stop trucks/cars that look like they can hold a significant cargo. All arms imports, including ammunition, arms maintenance equipment, and actual fire arms, will be confiscated unless the importer can provide proof of government approval for the import. Of course, all other military equipment is also subject to the same rule.
While we're on this spirit of cramping down on people's privileges concerning firearms, gatherings of more than three people/three firearms to fire said firearms are temporarily illegal in Northern Ireland unless given authorization by the government. This is done for multiple reasons. First, if militias such as the UVF were really police forces, they wouldn't need to undergo military training using military arms to do so. Second, guns make a lot of noise and people have the right to not have to put up with that ruckus. Three, it's a public safety hazard to randomly fire weapons everywhere. In this tense environment, a police officer doesn't have the luxury of determining if the gunshots he heard was from a paramilitary training or from a Catholic-Protestant gang battle. Of course, this isn't discriminating against the UVF, all Catholic and Protestant militias are subject to this. Of course, our Catholic militias are now part of the Army and don't count as militias legally, and what Catholic militias remain can always go across the border. The UVF are either old WWI veterans or green younglings who probably never fired a gun before, and we aim to keep it this way.
