Following the 'incident' and the unclear circumstances of who fired first, the US Attorney General would call for an investigation of the Soto Street Massacre which would lead into General Military Tribunal of the soldiers involved as a way to help circumvent a potentially lengthy and biased military process in favor of civilian oversight. The US Army is subordinate to the wishes of the US Government and the People after all. "Stating that we will get to the bottom of it and determine who is actually at fault, I believe that American justice for what happened on Soto Street will be found and dispensed as needed." Presidential Nominee Henry Wallace would stop his tours for a week in order to better show solidarity to the men and women of Los Angeles who lost their lives and raised the prospect of a Congressional hearing into the Massacre following a report from the Justice Department.

Media outlets friendly to the NUP and its cause will be allowed to broadcast about the incident, being given full access to the current state of proceedings so long as its not protected by law. However, in exchange for this coverage and availability, the media outlets will be asked to take a pro-Government stance and state that the strikers/riots shot first, using the peaceful protestors as human shields in order to achieve chaos. Military personnel, while also at fault for firing on innocent civilians, should be not as criticized as harshly as what would otherwise be the case. Those who views are on the air/television will be asked to generally support the government's proactive policy in keeping the military policed and accountable to the American people at large.

Once Wallace has left LA, he will continue to campaign in Iowa and Wisconsin for a further weak before finishing off the election season in the mid-Atlantic states, seeing to help flip not only New York to the NUP, but also New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia having fulfilled his promise to visit all 48 states over the course of the election season.
