The Chief of General Staff, Hans von Seeckt, has died in Berlin. The hero of the intervention in China passed away peacefully in his sleep. Our nation is mourning the loss of a true German hero, and important dignitaries were in attendance at his funeral in Berlin. Afterwards, the Chief of the Army, August von Mackensen, could be seen whispering something in private to the Kaiser. It was revealed shortly thereafter that he, too, intended to retire.

It was here that a larger ceremony was held at Nuremberg for the passing of von Seeckt where he was held in high honours by the members of the Deustches Heer, Reichspolizei and general members of the DVLP and citizenry of Germany. Approximately 500,000 people were in attendance.

Erich Raeder was made Chief of the Navy, Franz Halder of the Army and Heinz Guderian as Chief of Staff as replacements.
