[R&D] German Sonar Breakthroughs
Post Body

SECRET

Radar and Sonar equipment in Germany is continuing at a steady and buzzling pace! Hydrophones were recently developed allowing crews to track a submerged target by the sounds it makes but also by utilizing sonar which released a pulse through the waters, as well as the air. The response of it is things hitting back from what it releases, transmitting it to German computers to identify that there are objects in the sky or in the waters.

Tied in with the hydrophones, it allows underwater tracking far easier. These follows the tests done in 1934 by Rudolf Kühnhold where, at the Bay of Lübeck near Neustadt in Holstein, detected returns from woods across the bay at a range of 15 km (9.3 mi). In Germany, Kühnhold is often called the "Father of radar".

It is expected to begin installation and "rolling-out" features by 1938.
