As a generally poor and undeveloped country that relies mostly on agriculture for its economy, Black Monday's effects aren't mostly felt in the immediate banking closures and stock falls, but in the reverberations that occur in the countries we trade to. The German Empire and the rest of Mitteleuropa has their own problems to deal with; there is nothing we can do to solve their problems or restore them to a proper import destination as they might have been before.
However, we still have one option: the Union of Britain.
We are currently not on the best terms of course, given prior events. However, we would still like to end the trade war that has occurred between our respective states. [M: I think it occurred much as it did in OTL given the event description, with 20% tariffs on agricultural goods]. It only harms both of our countries, with Ireland unable to trade with other countries and the UoB ideologically oppose to trade with the RP amongst other potential partners. We would like to propose an immediate end to the trade war and pursue a detenté with the UoB for the time being, where we won't conduct any threatening actions towards each other while pursuing limited pragmatic trade ties.
In general, we will stray away from the protectionism and economic short-sightedness which ensued somewhat in previous years. This strategy to ensure the development of native industry in Ireland just hasn't worked, and as a "bonus" lines up with 0 of our foreign policy goals in the short term. While eventually developing more industry will happen when the conditions are right, just like it has for the Guinness Brewery in Dublin, it is clear that protectionism and punishing the one thing that really powers our economy: agriculture, is not the solution.
It is fundamentally contradictory to punish agricultural exports to protect the non-existent industry we have, while encouraging tillage farming and mechanization of agriculture as means to improve wealth. The government will heavily encourage the mechanization of agriculture and a break away from subsistence farming, as to truly reap the benefits of specialization that has reached the British mainland decades ago. We will spend what money we have on this initiative, instead of throwing it away in pointless trade wars to temporarily bolster other industries. Only after this happens, can we think about supporting other industries.
