With the war progressing in Sweden, several observations have been made about the current state of affairs of the German Armed Forces and their conduct in the Swedish campaign. While German forces have consistently outnumbered their opponents, their rigorous training and professionalism has consistently lead to victory, even faced with overwhelming enemy forces. While this has rated favorably on the army, several flaws and lessons can be learned even while victory in the Totalist Regime of Sweden is within grasp.
While German forces have been able to adapt to new terrain and circumstances due to the extensive proliferation of Auftragstaktik, lack of communication and isolation of several units for extended periods of times has hampered the German campaign to the point that it has allowed for the current stalemate at the Swedish lakes, with a general push to Stockholm delayed for at least a few more weeks. One solution to this problem is the expansion of radio forces in the German Army, proliferating radios and men to man them from the divisional level to the division level to the company level. Future expansions will expand radio connections to individual platoons by 1940 with priority for expansion to be forces currently stationed in German East Asia.
While the Luftstreitkräfte of the Deutsches Heer and the Ostseebattalions of the Kaiserliche Marine have exceeded almost all expectations given to them by German High Command, improvements can still be done to improve efficiency as their effectiveness was hampered by the Army-Navy rivalry that has not been addressed since Reichkanzler Tirpitz's tenure after the ouster of Ludendorff. As such, the Luftstreitkräfte of the Deutsches Heer will be reformed into an independent Luftwaffe while the Ostseebattalions will still be placed nominally under the Kaiserliche Marine but in really will be placed under their own independent command structure, who will only report to the German High Command. Despite being within their own independent command structure, the now independent Ostseebattalions will still work closely with the navy, as the job of one can not be accomplished without the other and vice versa.
