The "Pariah of the Continent", Chile provides an important Syndicalist link in South America. Bordering hostile and belligerent Argentina and supporting the state of Patagonia to its east, Chile faces an important decision in the next four years due to internal split between the radical Partido Revolucionario Permanente (Permanent Revolutionary Party), the ruling Syndicalist party and the moderate Alianca Socialista Nacional (National Socialist Alliance). The Chairmanship Election of 1940 will serve to direct the country's efforts trending towards midcentury.
Before then, however, Chile faces important decisions regarding its belligerent neighbors and its powerful military. Possessing one of the largest fleets in South America, as well as a well-maintained and professional army, Chile is in a good position to provide military support to fledgling Patagonia. The government has expressed its interest in maintaining and even expanding the armed forces, particularly the Air Force, in order to provide additional military dissuasion to the "aggression of the Argentine Junta and their lackeys."
Other plans include diversification and expansion of the economy. The possibility of mining expansion is very tantalizing to the government, as well as associated improvements in transport infrastructure. The government has also expressed interest in expanding railways, roadways, and expanding airline travel across the geographically dispersed country. Chile plans to petition its Syndicalist allies for technological assistance in these endeavours, as well as possible joint efforts in expanding the country's army, navy, and air force.
The outlook for Chile is a bright one as a beacon for Worker's Freedom in South America.
