The time for democracy has come to Siam. With the military backing the elections, any disruption to the process would be minimal at best, with the military on high alert should a radical royalist faction or the Syndicalists take the opportunity to seize power. But such a feat never happened, the elections running as smoothly as it could, shortages of ballots in several districts being fixed in a timely manner as unmarked trucks carrying the ballots to isolated provinces had the misfortune to break down in the muddy roads as the monsoon season made transportation in the rural jungle difficult but not impossible.
Despite the monsoon season however, turnout was estimated to be ~82% as all walks of live, from the peasants to the urban elite, upon hearing what they could about the Yellow Cover Dossier would line up for hours to make their voices heard, much to the dismay at those tasked with counting each vote by hand and drawing up a running tally. After double checking the rallies accumulated at each polling station, the verified results would be sent to Bangkok by telegram, before being broadcast to the nation in real time on the radio, counting up the results of each province for those lucky enough to own a radio. While Bangkok and Korat would show a good running for the Pak Kijsangkhom and the Pak Prachathipat parties respectfully, the countryside would be the deciding factor in the election, with rural communities all across the country breaking dramatically for the Pak Sangkhomniyom party who gave its unyielding support to all contents of the Yellow Cover Dossier.
Pridi Banomyong, author of the Dossier, would praise the result, using his own personal popularity as well as support for his economic proposals into to maneuver his way into becoming the Prime Minister of a large coalition government, composing of the Pak Sangkhomniyom as well as large swaths of the Khana Ratsadon, which split into left and right versions in the lead up to the election, both sides unable to maintain party unity without the active threat of absolute monarchy. It remains unclear if the Yellow Cover Dossier can be fully implemented, but it seems for now at least that the Siamese is fully committed to the ideals of democracy and what it entails.
