This looks like an autobelay route. People can “forget” without deliberately violating a safety rule. Actually that’s why regular training is usually required for anything where safety is important.

That’s a great idea but I wouldn’t say “usually”. I have literally never seen one of those at the climbing centers I’ve been to.

Yeah smart idea. When I was climbing the auto belay was just clipped but no mat/tarp thing. I didn’t use the auto belay routes much anyway because I never liked them and tbh they were only installed on routes that were too advanced for me.
