I can’t begin to imagine the phone calls to the insurance company for a prior authorization. I wonder if the pharmacy would even be allowed to dispense a refill without insurance. Like if the patient would be allowed to pay for it completely out of pocket instead.
This is still fucked. Naltrexone isn’t even considered a scheduled substance. I know some drugs like SSRIs aren’t either but a patient would need to be evaluated by a psych every month in order to receive them. I wonder what implications this holds for what is considered a controlled substance down the line.
