I am 6'4" and in about 2004 I hit 300 lbs and somewhere along the way got up to 375. At that point I figured I needed to make drastic changes. I went full on Keto diet for about 8 months. I did not go out except by myself so I would not be tempted by sweets and cocktails. I started walking every day, sometimes twice a day. I ended up losing 70 lbs over that time. Once I started going out and dating again I gained back about 30 lbs so back to keto I went. It's not as easy to maintain that lifestyle when you are involved with someone (especially a new relationship). I yoyo'd for a few years but never let the weight get out of hand. When the Ozempic and Tirzepatide hit the market I started taking Tirzepatide (mounjaro). It worked extremely well for me. I dropped that 30 and got back to my 305 weight. I was using the coupon for mounjaro which made the cost $25 a month. Had to stop once that coupon was no longer valid. I just couldn't affod $1200 a month vs $25. Off meds for 2 months. got up to 310/315 and maintained that for a bit but never let it go higher. Started on a compounded version of tirzepatide along with strict keto. Down to 285 now. I have not seen this weight since before 2000. My goal is 240. I have a high muscle mass and there is no way I can weigh what the doctors say I should weigh (180 ish). I was that as sophomore in high school with hardly anybody fat. But...I have no major side effects from the meds. I get dr mouth sometimes and I feel cold for the first 5 days after my shot. That's it. My dr says I have the best blood work of all her patients. My cholesterol and triglycerides are perfect while my skinny wife has numbers off the chart. Genetics at work. I am not one to take a medicine that I don't need and was very hesitant to use it but I saw first hand the results of a very close friend and made the decision. It's not for everyone but if you have a lot of weight to lose you won't lose it counting calories and working out on occasion. You have to take bigger steps just to get yourself to a better place and a weight that you can manage. My energy has returned also.
