I feel like this is a common problem, but I’m an extreme case and I’m wondering if anyone has specific advice for a man, early 50s (but this has been lifelong), who just can NOT seem to make visible gains.
I’ve been consistently going to the gym for a couple of years now, with some minor breaks during vacation or intense work. I’m eating protein. I’m trying all kinds of workout routines. Used a personal trainer. Everyone tells me “we’ll get muscle on you.” But then it’s always the same. It’s starting to feel a bit hopeless, but I’m not going to give up.
I will say I’ve gotten more gains in the last two years than ever in my life, but it feels so minor for so much hard work. Body type is hyper endurance. I recently walked 50 miles in a day and regularly walk up and down a 1000 foot mile long super steep climb with no issues.
Edit: have been eating plenty during the last year. In fact gained 20 pounds. Some muscle but more fat. Belly has taken the most brunt.
Body fat is 20% /- 5. Weight is 195 pounds. Height 6’2”
