I'm working out 3x a week full body. I am 31 and male. I am eating at a maintenance level. I'm doing a workout of 3 sets for each body part: legs, chest, calves, back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. So 21 sets per workout.
For the compound movements like squatting, pullups, rows, etc, I am doing reps of 5, and I mean actually 5 hard reps and not 5 reps when I can really do 10. I noticed after four weeks that I felt fatigued and worn out. I took a week off, and now four weeks later it's the same general malaise. I've had my blood checked and my testosterone, vitamin D, etc was good. Also getting about 200-300 grams of carbs a day and .7 to a gram per pound for protein.
I suspect that I am not recovering enough. I sleep about 7-8 hours a night. In my case, does it seem normal that I'm so tired after lifting four weeks straight? I don't deload in these four weeks, and I am lifting heavy every week. My thinking was that the four days off would be enough recovery but it does not seem to be the case.
Should I just take a week off after a month of lifting and keep repeating the cycle if that's what I feel I need to do? Could I just do the same routine but not lift heavy each week and just work in the 10-15 rep range? Thanks.
