Hi, I'm a 20yr old woman, 5'6 and 250ish lbs. I used to be a perfect weight, 130, and maintained it with no thought, but a few years ago I got into a car accident that made me unable to exercise for a few years, I've gained so much weight since then and whenever I try to go to the gym or start a diet I stay on top of it for a few weeks, don't feel any different, forget, and stop (tale as old as time). At this point I'm just upset with myself that I can't seem to stay disciplined. I just got engaged and we're planning the wedding for 3yrs from now, I just got the engagement photos back and I'm absolutely mortified by how I look. The worst part is that I go for regular checkups with my doctor and everything's fine. Perfect BP, cholesterol, sodium, vitamins, everything, so I can't even health scare myself into losing weight, because on paper I'm healthy as an ox. I want to be a proper weight by my wedding, please give me your harshest advice, how can I stay motivated? Any tips on quicker weight loss?
I hear that you say that you’re healthy as an ox so you can’t scare yourself into losing weight. You are obese. That should be scary enough. Just because all of those things came back fine does NOT make you healthy. You cannot be carrying around that much weight and be healthy. And I’m not trying to make you feel bad, I just noticed that standing out in your paragraph. So first off let me say DONT DIET. You’re making life style changes. Dieting never works. You need to eat healthy and stay that way for the rest of your life. For me I used to binge on candy. Sweet things. So now I have a whole aresenal of healthy sweet foods that I can eat and I know I won’t get sick or gain a million pounds. I’ve lost 20 pounds in the last few months just from changing my eating habits. I exercise as well but definitely not everyday. And I think today is the first day in weeks I’ve been to the gym. And I’m still losing weight as of today. Even if you’re not exercising you won’t gain weight. Not if youe eating right. It sounds like you must’ve increased your calories tremendously. And trust it’s going to be hard at first but you gotta push through. It’s NOT supposed to be easy
