You and I are on a cross county trip to visit family in Oregon. To save time I suggest we take a shortcut a local mentioned to me at the last gas station. Your spirit of adventure is peaked so we turn off the highway onto rural roads. As our vehicle weaves along the meandering road our bellies suddenly scream with hunger. In that moment a pristine 50s style billboard appears for a local buffet called Johnny’s Filling Station. Our hunger decides for us so a few miles later we are pulling into the restaurants gravel lot. We stretch for a moment before realizing we’re the only ones here. Not even a single employee car seems to be in the lot. However, we do notice an “open” sign made of neon is displayed on the door. We shrug and one by one enter through the chrome lined glass door. Inside the restaurant is a ghost town; We almost turn to exit until a robotic voice infects our ears. To our right a robotic man appeared from behind the cash register. He introduced himself as Johnny and welcomed us to the restaurant. He then explained that it is an entirely autonomous endless buffet restaurant. His only request was that we eat until we’re full; Otherwise an exorbitant surcharge will be applied. We both look puzzled but shrug and agree to the terms. Johnny then leads us to the table before clicking a button. A whirring can be heard as metal door rises to reveal the biggest buffet ever constructed. The smells hit our noses causing drool to form at the corners of our mouths…and this is where we will pickup on the role play.
