Getting ready rooms: non-hotel options?
Post Body

I live in Astoria and I'm getting married in Williamsburg this August. I'm trying to figure out where to get ready the day of the wedding. I don't really want to stay in a hotel the night before or the night of the wedding—I'd rather wake up at home with my fiance and cat and eat my favorite breakfast. But I'm pretty sure that if I want to get ready in a hotel room from 11 am to around 3 pm, they're going to make me pay for two nights, right? Is there any way around that—hotels that let you book daytime hours, or rentable spaces that aren't hotels that would work? We're planning to take photos in Astoria Park, so I wouldn't want to go too far from there.

My family has already booked rooms at the Hyatt Place in Long Island City, but we don't have a block. My sister is the only other person getting professional hair done, so it feels especially silly to shell out a lot of money for a special getting ready room for the two of us. I thought about just going to a salon instead of having a stylist come to us, but I wonder if that would limit our options. And I don't want to impose on my sister by using her hotel room to get ready since she has a toddler. Any ideas?
