I’ve lost thousands of dollars due to these cancellations and failed orders….
I started trading in mid 2020 due to the pandemic and being laid off from work, I didn’t think I’d be too good at it but after the first 6-7 months my account was $22k, I was earning upwards of 3k a month on average. (To all the experts, I had very little to no experience trading)
My first loss….PSV or HOFSQ I had a placed a GTC stop loss on my shares and it failed. I contacted webull knowing I didn’t cancel it, and was told it was due to “corporate action” but my account said “execution order failed”. I thought to myself well lesson learned I’ll eat that 2k loss as the company eventually went bankrupt.
Shortly after bouncing back I got into SNDL during the meme stock rallies and I made awesome gains until….I had another GTC stop loss order cancel and not placed at the correct time. The shares were trading at 4$ and I set stop loss for 3392 @ $4.05 not knowing how high it would go. The order was cancelled and I didn’t know why. I reached out to them and they said it was the exchange that cancelled it, because they didn’t check it off as a GTC order therefore it had it marked as a Day trade and was cancelled at the EOD. It never came back to that price. I ate a 13k loss on that trade alone.
I can’t get webull to give me any information on what to do, where to go, who to reach out to, and their not accepting claim to the issues im having. Just those two stock trades lost me an accumulation of -15k not to mention how many more there could be as my account history is littered with cancelled orders being me or whoever being that they’re not labeled who or why they were cancelled or failed. I just happened to notice these being my first big losses.
…..basically im wondering if there’s a way to fix this without having to hire a securities litigation attorney and cost a bunch of fees?
SENT RESPONSE FROM WEBULL……
Hello A*****,
We use multiple different market makers. GTC orders being unintentionally cancelled can be the result of many different situations. We look into every case where orders are cancelled to fix whatever went wrong and ensure it does not happen again. Unfortunately, most of the time these cancellations are out of our hands and are the result of a failure of a 3rd party.
In lieu of your experience, I'd like to offer you 2 free stocks.
