Something I've noticed people saying lately is that one of the main things that drives people away from a comic is large speech bubbles. It made me realize that a lot of the comics I read has so very few words in those bubbles.
When it comes time to publish my own comic, should I be striving to make sure that speech bubbles are as short as possible to convey what the character is saying? Should I be aiming for one word responses more often than not?
The story that I'm hoping to put out is supposed to be primarily dialogue focused however if characters that have a lot to say is what makes people not want to continue reading then obviously I can try and find a way to tell the story more through either exposition or background storytelling.
As an example this is one of my characters flirting with another "
"There is a very beautiful, very curious, and very single woman who promises not to clown you for whatever the answer to that question is."
Should I just trim it down to her saying something along the lines of. "I'm single by the way"
