Using a control surface for midi automation and macros
Post Body

I want to work more with physical faders and knobs for sound design and recording automation, but I hate the tiny plastic faders on my midi keyboard and decided to purchase a control surface with motorized faders that I can also use to mix.

I was looking for something with just a high quality set of faders, knobs, and transport controls. So that I can get rid of my underutilized midi keyboard and just get a simple one.

It seems like there aren’t too many choices however. Size is also a factor because I’m not a mixing engineer. I’ll need the fader controller to be in front of my keyboard so that I can control both easily.

I’m currently looking at the Icon Platform M which seems to be pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. I was wondering if anyone has experience using it. Not just for mixing but for production as well. How easy is it to configure midi cc? And also does anyone have any other control surfaces to recommend that would be even better for my needs?
