I know it is all subjective to the content and way the instruments are recorded etc. but I know most engineers have some "go to settings" that they start with for EQ and compression for almost any instrument.

I am currently working with electric guitar and electric bass guitar and am running out of starting points that are giving me any desirable tone. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

I also want to facilitate these types of discussions in this subreddit. I know there are some damn good minds in here that could mix circles around me and I want to glean as much info as I can. Thanks.
