Hey,
I've recently started recording pianists and vocalists at my local piano bar, and am struggling with getting the best audio quality possible, and looking for possible solutions or ideas how to improve this.
I originally recorded the video below on my phone (but since now have a camcorder), although it sounds good, it doesn't sound great - and since I already know most folks view on their mobile devices, I want to do all that I can on my end to give the artist the credit they deserve.
Its a live piano bar, over house speakers (which do sound great) but I want it to translate fantastically on a digital video recording.
I do audio post correction, with monitors and also regular headphones to give me a foundation of how the sound should be.
The questions, essentially:
Which is a great way to get the maximum audio? Do i get an standalone external audio recorder, then match it with the video later?
Should i take my laptop with the camera attached and a quality external USB mic?
Should i take a USB User Interface and take a condenser mic and sound check the levels?
Is there a way i can tap into their audio and just record a direct feed from there and then EQ, comp, and reverb after?
Any suggestions, links, insight, or ideas is greatly appreciated! Also tips on improvement from the link above!
Thanks
