I'm looking for an alternative to Soundcloud proper, and by the amount of forum and reddit posts I found asking the same, I know I'm not the only one.
Why? Because Soundcloud has become unusable in the literal sense. It hogs so much resources that I get nothing but constant audio dropouts on both my laptop and my PC. (Do not personally own anything "mobile" tech.)
Not a few dropouts a song, which would be irritating. A few dropouts A SECOND. Absolutely bloody unusable. It's specific to Soundcloud. Youtube, bandcamp, iTunes, etc etc do not have this issue.
Best I've come up with is bandcamp. However, this really isn't the same service. I'm not looking to monetize and flog albums. I'm looking to share disassociated tracks with (relative) strangers, sans money, and without the compatibility issues of GoogleDrive or the hassle of dropbox.
Soundcloud's format is what's expected if I take my live audio, band demos, one off finished songs, and post a link on reddit, or organforum.com or mandolincafe.com etc etc.
And so far I'm not finding anything comparable. Which sucks.
Ideas?
