Peace,
So I worked at Wawa, out of high school, many years ago. From that store…
- Two people joined the army.
- One became a medic.
- One become a bartender.
- I got into corporate sales.
- The manager moved to a Chipotle, and was demoted to making burritos. 😂
We all remember those days somewhat fondly, because everyone except the manager was friends.
We all left because it paid terribly and the work itself ranged from touching trash, to ID’ing Neanderthals, to freezing in a cooler with a thin “safety” jacket.
I see posts nowadays preaching the Employee Handbook like it’s The Gospel of Matthew. Why? 😆
The average employee can’t afford rent in a one-bedroom apartment.
Regional and Corporate Managers are a bunch of overpaid, underworked walking mustaches.
They save on Marketing by undercutting local cigarette and gas prices by a penny three times a day.
So…the business is built in, and contingent on you living with your parents (or that second roommate.) Sound fair…?
TL;DR Wawa doesn’t pay enough for your loyalty.
