This might be a dumb question but as I said I’m new to water fowl and got myself a Stoeger p3500. I’m waiting on my kicks highflyer choke and was wondering what the best ammo to use for mallards with this choke. I was planning on using win or Kent 4 shot
First throw the turkey sight in the garbage. Next pattern your gun. I’d cancel the order on the choke, as generally aftermarket chokes aren’t worth the money. I’ve yet to see an aftermarket choke pattern much better than factory ones to where they are worth while. Also don’t be fooled by the aftermarket steel rated “full” chokes. They will measure out almost identical to a factory modified choke.

You clearly never done any sort of wing shooting be it on actual birds or clays. You don’t aim a shotgun when wing shooting. You point a shotgun. All that sight is going to do is hinder you, because you will be too focused on getting a bird into that window. Which will result in missed shots 98% of the time as you won’t be leading the bird correctly.
For example if a bird is dropping into your decoys wings cupped, and you put them in the window of that sight, you’re going to shoot over them. Same thing if they are flying away from you. If the bird is loosing altitude or flying away, you need to lead low. So they fly into the shot.
Edit: just read the description for that sight. If one thinks they’ll have time to see if a ducks wings reach each side of that “sight”, they are dead wrong. Easy way to estimate distance is to place a few decoys 40yds from your blind. If they are within the decoys, they are in range.
