EDIT: My bad for the wrong choice of words. The explosion already happened, the characters are currently in the aftermath of that before the Watch arrives. That's what I meant by the "explosion scene". I cannot simply kill the PC in the explosion anymore.

Hey Waterdhavians!
So one of my players has sadly decided to drop out of our campaign. We ended the last session right after the explosion happened and this particular character retreated into the manor with one of the urchins (Nat) who was in shock from the explosion. The other two urchins sadly died in the explosion. The group is currently dealing with helping victims of the explosion, but they've also apprehended Martem Trec and saw him stuff something in his pocket.
Anyway, I'd like some ideas of the best way to retire her character that would perhaps serve the plot and not force the players on an urgent quest to "find" or "rescue" their companion who they know OOC is a player who has left.
My current working plan at the moment is to use Vincent Trench (who in my game is an Oni, not a Rakshasa) and who was hired the night before to break the quitting player's character out of jail. She definitely trusts him so maybe I use him to devour her/kill her off?
