We were 3 1/2 hours into a four-hour session when one of the players stopped responding on Roll20. At first, I thought it was an issue with Roll20. Then we all could hear the snoring.
I know, I know. It's just a game. And this player normally is great to play with; he also told me after the session that he was up late last night. And we know he usually plays lying in bed.
This was our fourth session. We just started Chapter 2. I wanted this time to be an open-world experience for the players, with loads of opportunities to RP and develop their characters. I spent days writing new material and blending the vanilla W:DH with supplements from DMsGuild and other sources.
But whet happened tonight has got me thinking: am I overpreparing? Should I scale back plans and not devote so much time to prep? Everyone, including Sleepy, says they're enjoying the campaign. I'm wondering now, though, if I'm putting too much into it.
What's the "right" amount of effort? How do you balance your prep time?
