Xanathar Guild Hideout --- Intellect Devourer/Nihiloor/Mind Flayer

Hey guys, how do you guys feel about the aspect of Wardragon being possessed by an intellect devourer, Nihiloor, and his other devourer in the story?
It seems a little like a distraction in some ways. I know if I was a player, I would think he was the main villain, and I would pursue that plot hook. I understand it's meant as an indication that the Xanathar is working with evilly guys. My best guess is that Nihiloor is in Dungeon of the Mad Mage later. What do you guys think about this???
