As a follow up to this post, I had a second test done with a DEP Certified laboratory. I did the test myself from our kitchen faucet after letting the water run for a couple minutes. I know testing from our well was an option but I opted to do our faucet because:

The SimpleLab results we got listed hard water AFTER our softener, and the rep said our softening system doesn't seem to be fully working so I wanted to test it.
A couple days after I submitted the test I received a call saying that our water was not safe to drink and to avoid cooking and drinking it. It is also worth noting that we had our boiler and water heater replaced last month and the guy we hired said we had the second worst water he had ever seen.
Please let me know what kind of systems and costs we are looking at here. Is it possible to have this water safe to drink/cook with without a reverse osmosis system?
