This watch was gifted to me and has taken a very long time to grow on me.
It’s big (46mm). Blingy. And very loud. It’s not my taste or style in all honesty. It reminds of the big watches celebrities and sports personalities would wear in the early or mid 2000s, very invicta like.
The dial: This features handset diamonds (probably faux) on the hour indices, rose gold hour, second and minutes hands. It has a useful date window. The face has some sort of two tone black carbon fibre-esque pattern going on.
The case: Bloody chunky and absolutely rock solid. Seriously, it’s like having a solid block of steel in your hands. A lot of weight. Rose gold tone bezel with indices markers that have been placed their for fashion rather than function. The screw down crown is really cool though. Has a nice spiral groove to it.
The bracelet: No compromises here. Very solid and surprisingly comfortable, it wraps really well around my wrist and is actually more comfortable than the oyster style bracket I have on a Tissot V8 chronograph that I own. Good job Bulova.
What I like about this watch;
Diamond indices, they look pretty. Always wanted a watch with diamond indices as when done right they can look elegant. These have been done right but the rest of the watch let’s them down imo.
Bracelet is very comfortable and solid.
Butter smooth sweeping second hand thanks to the Precisionist movement. Smoother than any mechanical movement out there I’m lead to believe.
Hour and minute hands are nice and bold.
What I dislike about this watch;
The dial background. The two tone black and carbon fibre like pattern just doesn’t attract me. It’s there for the sake of being there it almost feels like. A much simpler and clearer dial would genuinely lift this watch. At the moment sometimes when I look at my watch it’s like I’m looking down at a cheap designer watch or a very messy Invicta
Unsure if you can spot this, but the dial features 24hour numbers…. In black. Hardly legible and again they’re just there for the sake of being there. If these were white in colour it would look much better and less gimmicky.
The bezel and it’s indices. So the bezel is okay. I get that this watch is supposed to be an attention grabber but the indice markers look a tad out of place. Also the 4 hexagon pillars in each corner give me this steam punk look, not a fan.
Why this watch has all of a sudden grown on me, or rather, why wearing it has grown on me?
It fetches a ton of compliments. From friends at social gatherings and family members at home. I wear this in very casual settings and never fails to gain someone’s attraction. It’s funny isn’t how as watch ‘enthusiasts’ we knit pick on every detail and yet to most of the world a watch is just a watch and it’s either pretty to the casual eye or not!
