A couple of times when people have questions, the most common answer has been 'track down a vendor's sales engineer or sales rep, and they can help you'.
Sometimes figuring out who's a reputable vendor in your area can be difficult, and it's not always easy to clarify that just because you're trying to find out how X works or what Y costs, that doesn't mean you're shopping for one at this very instant.
I work for an equipment vendor, so while there are some areas that I'm only at the level of a junior operator, in the areas we specialize in, my job is to fix stuff that stumps senior engineers. Most sales engineers have similar expertise within their narrow focus.
We work with engineers, biochemists and consultants across a wide range of water & wastewater fields. Would there be any interest if I were to get some of the more Internet-savvy types to provide contact information (probably by getting a Reddit account) so they can pitch in for specialized questions?
