Following the expansion down the Nile the previous year, and the troubles the militia had in dealing with foreign civilian groups, the Mandate has established a commission to investigate. Armed with funding and authority, the officials have subjected the officer corps to lectures and seminars on keeping a rabble in line, and the militia are given harsher penalties for operating outside of orders. A number of the worst offenders have been executed by firing squad, in the hopes of forming a deterrent.
Despite all these measures, the Commission remains relatively pessimistic about the viability of militia units, and in it's preliminary reports bemoan the overbearing handling that is required to keep them in line. Perhaps at the behest of the militarists in the Mandate, they have revived an older idea of a Citizen-Militia and requested leave to recruit proper citizens into a professional force. The Anti-Military government has ignored these requests, instead authorizing the rebuilding of the current militia to full strength and recruitment of a fourth battalion.
The following is due for deployment at the end of the year.
