If you haven't read any lore posts yet, or just haven't pieced it together, I'll briefly summarize the history.

• World ends

• People after world ends start to band together to not die

• SF Bay Area starts to repopulate a bit

• People decide to rebuild the tallest building in San Francisco to prove to themselves and everyone else that they're capable and strong

• Giant earthquake (Loma Prieta) comes and wrecks everything, starting a region-wide fire, too.

• A few rich oligarchs rise out of the ashes and rebuild part of the Financial District in San Francisco, become "the Bankers" and begin to rule the Bay.

• Years go by, Bankers start rebuilding the region, squeeze profit out of the populace, you know, normal capitalist stuff.

• Riley Soto is born in May 5th, 2000.

• Grows up under the Bankers but knows from stories and histories of the last generation that they're oppressing the people.

• At age 16 travels around the Golden State on the interstate, learns of the teachings of Marx and Lenin and Engels in the Imperial Valley.

• Riley attracts a following, and wanders behind the Sierra Nevada for around a year, going to Vegas and Reno and even Phoenix, spreading communism.

• Riley goes to Oregon and Jefferson and spreads communism.

• Goes back to San Francisco from the north, finds that the Bankers have heard of his anti-capitalism and are out to get him.

• Escapes to Sacramento with his impromptu army he gathered on his journey and overthrows the local leaders in the region.

• Founds the California Republic and works to rally a true army to destroy the Bankers.

• Conquers most of the Bankers' territory, except the Peninsula itself.

• Liberates San Francisco.

• Begins to establish authority over the region.

• Game starts.
